Communication from the Vice-Rector, Prof. Stanisław Głuszek
As the Deputy Rector for Medical Affairs of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce and Regional Consultant for General Surgery, I appeal and ask that, in the current epidemiological situation, all of us show responsibility and common sense.
Coronavirus is susceptible to lipid solvents, which means that thorough hand washing with water and ordinary soap or detergent for at least 30 seconds is crucial to limit the spread of coronavirus. It is necessary to cover oneself appropriately when coughing, sneezing, sneezing one should use not the palms but 'elbow'. It is necessary to keep an appropriate distance from other people, especially those suspected of having viral infections (a minimum of one metre), avoid contact with people showing such symptoms, avoid shaking hands, hugging and kissing, as well as touching eyes, mouth, nose with hands. Touching our face increases the risk of viruses entering our respiratory tract.
If you feel ill, especially when you experience fever and other flu-like symptoms, the GSI encourages you to refrain from going out and meeting other people. Only responsible behaviour, following the procedures set by the GSI, and quarantining people who have returned from places where there are very many infected people can prevent the rapid spread of the disease.
If you experience symptoms suggestive of illness, you should first contact the health services who will advise you on how to handle the situation. It is not allowed to come alone to the ER, as by doing so the person poses a danger to other patients.
In the face of the epidemiological threat we need to take special care of elderly people with chronic diseases, who are particularly vulnerable to the complications that accompany COVID -19 infections.
All precautions recommended by the WHO, as well as common sense should be exercised, as noted above.
