Study rules (information for foreigners)

All foreigners without Polish citizenship who apply for studies at Jan Kochanowski University take part in enrolment using the same rules, regardless of their entitlements.

Foreign candidates are placed on common ranking lists, separate from lists of Polish citizens.

Foreigners undertaking studies pay a fee for studies.

The fee varies depending on the course of study.

Fees for full-time education in Polish language shall not be charged for:

  1. A foreigner – citizen of a European Union member state, the Swiss Confederation, Norway or Iceland (member states of the European Free Trade Agreement - EFTA) – a party to the agreement on the European Economic Area and their family members residing on the territory of the Republic of Poland.

    1a Foreigner – citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland referred in Art. 10 sec. 1 let. b or d of the Agreement on the withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community (EU Official Journal L 29 of 31.01.2020, p. 7, as amended) and members of their family residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
     
  2. Holder of a valid Pole's Card or a person who has been issued a decision on the determination of Polish origin.
  3. A foreigner who has been granted a permanent residence permit or a long-term resident of the European Union.
  4. A foreigner who has been granted a permit for temporary residence in connection with the circumstances referred to in Art. 159 sec. 1 of the Act on foreigners (this provision must be indicated on the decision to grant the permit).
  5. A foreigner who has been granted a permit for temporary residence in connection with the circumstances referred to in Art. 186 sec. 1 item 3 or 4 of the Act on foreigners (this provision must be indicated on the decision to grant the permit).
  6. A foreigner who has the status of refugee granted in the Republic of Poland or enjoys temporary protection or subsidiary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  7. Foreigner – holder of a certificate certifying knowledge of Polish as a foreign language, at least at C1 language proficiency level. The only document accepted as a indication of the criterion above is a certificate issued by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language.
  8. A foreigner who is a spouse, ascendant or descendant (child, grandchild) of a citizen of the Republic of Poland, residing in the territory of Poland.

The foreigners listed in items 1-8 are not exempted from fees for repeating classes and for classes not included in the study curriculum.

Foreigners listed in items 2-8 are entitled to a social grant.
