Project description

The E+DIETing_LAB project aims to improve health by promoting proper eating habits and physical activity. According to the WHO, one of the causes of non-communicable diseases is being overweight. Proper nutrition is crucial in treating these diseases. In Europe, 40% of adults are obese or overweight. Furthermore, more than 2.1 billion people worldwide are overweight (Lancet, 2017). This problem is increasingly common in developed countries. There are also more illnesses emerging due to poor eating habits and sedentary lifestyles (Mozaffarian, 2014).

A dietitian deals with people on diets due to illness as well as healthy people. There is no doubt that the role of a dietitian is extremely valuable.

The project mainly focuses on:

  • a response to increasing health problems caused by nutrition,
  • access to practical knowledge concerning dietetics,
  • improving the interpersonal skills of dietitians,
  • spreading the concept of social responsibility,
  • promoting healthy eating.

The project is aimed at students studying in the field of dietetics and at dietitians improving their professional qualifications. The project provides the development of an app for students of dietetics and a virtual laboratory where working with a patient can be simulated. The module will be supervised by lecturers.
