Stanisław Głuszek (born on 17.02.1954 in Tarczek, Pawłów commune)

In 1978 I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical Academy in Łódź. I obtained my doctoral degree in 1981 at the Medical Academy in Łódź, and my postdoctoral degree in 1997 at the Medical Academy in Białystok. In 2003, I was awarded the academic title of Professor by the President of the Republic of Poland.

As a doctor with a specialisation in general and oncological surgery, I have been practising medicine since 1978. Since 1988, I have been the head of the Department of Surgery - Clinic. In 1991, I was appointed provincial consultant for general surgery. I have been affiliated with the JKU since 2001 (2001-2004 - Associate Professor and since 2004 Full Professor). From 2006 to 2007 I held the position of Director of IPP Faculty of Medicine AŚ in Kielce, from 2007 the position of Dean of thr Faculty of Medicine now Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

My achievements fall into three areas of activity: scientific, didactic and organisational. I am the author of more than 300 publications: including author, co-author and editor of publications on surgery, 21 chapters in books, 6 books of which I was editor or co-author. I have published the monograph "Zapis umierania" (Eng. The Record of Dying) and "Z dziejów Chirurgii Regionu Świętokrzyskiego" (Eng. From the History of Surgery in the Świętokrzyskie Region). Total IF is 93,146, Hirsh index 8. In addition, I am the manager of projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and co-author of an NCN project.

When heading the Faculty, I emphasised the development of medical education in Kielce, which resulted in the creation of an appropriate teaching and research infrastructure at the JKU in Kielce. As a result of these efforts, we educate in the fields of emergency medicine (first-cycle), physiotherapy (first, second cycle), cosmetology (first cycle), nursing (first, second cycle), obstetrics (first, second cycle), public health (first, second cycle), physical education (first cycle), and have been awarded the right to confer a doctoral degree in the field of health sciences. An extremely important event for the University and the medical community as a whole was the awarding of the right to confer the degree of Doctor of Health Sciences to the Faculty of Medicine in 2015. The next stage of the Faculty's development was the granting of authorization to conduct a medical programme.

For my scientific, didactic and organisational achievements, I have been honoured several times with the Rector's Awards and have been awarded the Golden Cross of Merit, Gloria Medicinae. In addition, I received the First Prize for a scientific paper [part of the habilitation] at the International Congress of Surgeons Milan 1989, the First Prize of the Polish Society of Extra- and Intestinal Nutrition for a paper on the importance of nutrition in gastric and gastrointestinal cancer (2000) and an honourable mention of a submitted paper at the Proctology Symposium (2006).
