Does the administration of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce operate during the suspension of classes?

In accordance with the Rector's Order No. 69/2020 of 23 March 2020, the university administration is working from 7.30am – to 1pm until further notice. In addition, on-call services are organised to ensure continuity of work. On the other hand, until further notice, the access of visitors to the University's buildings is restricted. We would therefore ask you to contact the Head of the relevant unit by phone or email to make arrangements.

All documents (including financial documents, invoices, business trips, receipts, etc.) required to be submitted in written for and addressed to the university-wide administration, should be submitted to the Registry Desk, which is located in a designated room on the ground floor of the Rector's Office building at ul. Żeromskiego 5 in Kielce. All documents requiring written form, addressed to the faculty/branch administration, should be submitted at the locations designated by the Dean of the faculty/branch.

 

What will the delivery of learning activities look like?

All teaching activities conducted at the University shall be suspended until further notice.
During the suspension of classes, students, doctoral students and postgraduate students are obliged to work on their own and individually complete the material indicated for credit.

It is the duty of course instructors to make teaching materials necessary to complete the course available in a digital form. An e-learning platform, Virtual University, Microsoft Office 365 or other forms of electronic contact can be used for remote teaching.

Effective from 19 March 2020, Jan Kochanowski University, taking care of safeguarding the continuity of teaching, scientific and administrative processes, is making the Microsoft Office 356 service available to all employees and students of the University in the full range of the office suite. The service can be used online and also in as a desktop application following its installation on a PC. Each user is able to use the service on any 5 devices (desktop and mobile).

Microsoft Office 365 functionalities provide the opportunity to exchange documents, work on shared documents, and organise virtual meetings (including teaching materials). Details and instructions on how to use the service will be provided by email,
and support will be provided by IT staff in the organisational units. Access accounts for academic staff and students will be set up by departmental IT staff. Accounts for non-teaching staff will be set up by IT Centre staff.

On 13 March, the Rector of UJK, Prof. Jacek Semaniak, PhD hab., sent a letter to the Deans of faculties and branches, asking them to review the organisation of teaching activities carried out in the summer semester and to indicate the possibility of introducing classes using distance learning methods. The Deans were asked to prepare a list of subjects that could be delivered remotely in all the faculties/faculties running the course. This particularly applies to lectures, conversation classes, seminars and exercises. The information from the Deans is to be forwarded to the Vice-Chancellor for Education, JKU Prof. Monika Szpringer, PhD hab., and to the students until 20 March 2020.

 

Are teaching activities carried out using remote learning methods and
techniques will be regarded as having been completed?

Classes taken remotely that provide tangible education results will be recognised as having been completed without the need to repeat them at the later date. Classes considered not completed will be repeated in a physical setting later in the future. Decisions on the organisation of other courses will be made separately for each course of study. It is possible to extend the delivery of courses in the summer semester in the academic year 2019/2020.

 

Can on-call services and consultations take place remotely?

It is recommended that on-call and consultations take place remotely. If personal contact is necessary, appropriate precautions are recommended.

In the period from 26 March 2020 to 10 April 2020, for employees of the higher education institution (both academic and non-academic staff), the obligation to work on the premises of the higher education institution shall be limited, except where this is necessary to ensure the continuity of the operation of the institution.

 

Is the mobility of university teachers restricted? What actions should be taken by a person who had a trip planned for the immediate future , e.g., under the Erasmus+ programme?

In accordance with the Rector's Order No. 50/2020 of 13 March 2020 - all departures and arrivals of foreign students, doctoral students and employees under Erasmus+ and other programmes are suspended until further notice.

 

Is it possible to participate in pre-planned training and conferences?

In accordance with the Rector's Order No. 50/2020 of 13 March 2020 - the participation of employees in training courses, conferences or business trips is suspended until further notice.

 

When will the suspended classes resume?

Classes have been suspended until further notice, so please follow the announcements published on the JKU homepage as well as on the website of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

 

Can resit examinations and thesis defences take place?

Examinations, credits, diploma examinations, may take place under the condition that appropriate precautions are taken, only in the presence of persons whose participation is absolutely necessary. Individual decisions on this matter are taken by the Dean of the faculty/branch.

 

Are the Library and Archives operating as usual?

Access to the University Library and the JKU Archives is suspended until further notice. Books can be returned at any time via a book self-checkout station.

 

With the further spread of the virus, are there plans to stop classes after 10 April 2020?

In this regard, please follow the announcements published on the JKU homepage as well as on the website of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

 

Am I obliged to inform the JKU of my return from abroad or of my contact with a person infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus as well as of the procedures recommended to me
by the sanitary-epidemiological services?

In accordance with the Rector's Order No. 50/2020 of 13 March 2020 in the event that an employee returns from a country where the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is spreading, or is placed under hospitalisation, quarantine, self-monitoring, epidemiological surveillance, or comes into contact with a person infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, they are obliged to notify the University immediately by forwarding the information to the email address zgloszenia@ujk.edu.pl or by telephone to the Human Resources Department.
