Michal Arabski (born 8.05.1978 in Kielce) graduated in 2002 with a MSc. degree in biology, specialising in biochemistry and genetics, at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection of the University of Łódź, and in 2004 with a MSc. in physiotherapy at the Faculty of Physiotherapy of the Medical University of Łódź. He received his PhD in biochemistry in 2005 and his habilitation degree in biology, specialising in biophysics, from the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection at the University of Łódź in 2013.
From 2005 to 2012 employed at Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce as Assistant Professor and since 2013 as Associate Professor. In 2016, he took on the roles of Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs at the Institute of Biology, Chairman of the Faculty Team for Education Quality and the Chairman of the Science and International Relations. Since 2017, he has been Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Genetics at the JKU Institute of Biology.
His scientific activities are related to the evaluation of the biological properties of new chemical compounds, drug carriers and recombinant proteins as potential therapeutic preparations. He has co-authored 50 publications including those published in Philadelphia list journals (e.g., Scientific Reports, PLoS One, Carbohydrate Polymers, Nanotoxicology, Mutation Research), several national patents, international patent applications and expert reports for industry. He has presented his research results at 53 national and international conferences. He has participated in 10 projects funded by the Scientific Research Committee, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the National Science Centre, in 3 of which he is the manager. In 2008-2009, he held a position of seminar coordinator for the 'Science for Business - university as an incubator for commercialisation of scientific research' EU project co-financed by the European Social Fund, Human Capital. From 2010-2014, a deputy member of the steering committee of the international COST project, action BM1003 'Microbial cell surface determinants of virulence as targets for new therapeutics in cystic fibrosis'.
Between 2005 and 2017, he supervised 44 Master's theses and 34 diploma theses in the fields of biology and biotechnology. He is currently a supervisor of a doctoral thesis. Reviewer of more than 40 articles in the Philadelphia list journals, a doctoral dissertation, as well as of scientific achievements and output in the postdoctoral proceedings.
Awarded team awards for scientific achievements by the Rector of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce (6) and the University of Łódź (3). In 2009, he was awarded the Waclaw Szybalski Prize for the best paper by a young biotechnologist.
