The most important projects carried out by the JKU between 2004 and 2019

Thanks to the support of EU funds, the University Campus on Świętokrzyska Street was built. As part of a project with the Swietokrzyska University of Technology (value: PLN 44 million), laboratories at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences were modernised.

A Centre for Arts Education (value: PLN 10 million) has been built next to the Faculty of Pedagogy and Arts building.

In the following years, the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business is being built on the Campus, where, among other things, the Academic Career Office (value: PLN 22.3 million) will have its headquarters.

Expansion of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is underway at the complex on Aleja IX Wieków Kielc. The most important projects carried out there are MEDIC, MEDREH, MEDPAT and medical simulation centres for doctors and nurses and midwives. The value of all projects is PLN 130 million. Some of these are still being implemented.

Thanks to EU support, a Centre for Rehabilitation and Sport at the JKU Campus was built in 2015 with a value of PLN 11 million. To date, the university has not had its own sports facilities.

Thanks to the EU funds, the buildings of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Arts and the Rector's Office of the JKU were thermo-modernised - (the total cost is PLN 7.5 million)

Science and research

The university carries out many scientific and research projects. Thanks to EU funding, projects were implemented to improve the quality of education. New faculties have been created, including biotechnology and design. There has been funding for in-service teacher training and projects aimed at students. One of the major projects on a nationwide scale was the Diagnosis of Polish six-year-olds (2007), the results of which formed the basis for the reform of Polish schooling. Great support is also given to university graduates who, thanks to EU funding, are given internships and traineeships to help them find their way in the labour market.

Research and its commercialisation for the needs of local companies and institutions is a key task carried out at the Jan Kochanowski University. Our researchers win numerous grants, projects and research programmes on a regional, national and international scale. The Jan Kochanowski University is present both for research into the history of the shrine and the monuments of Holy Cross, and for research into proton, hadron and nucleus collisions at the CERN laboratories near Geneva. We have a research station at the Paradise Cave and are creating a Botanical Garden near Karczówka in Kielce.
