Study under the ECTS system
Study under the ECTS system
A student interested in completing a period of study at a partner higher education institution, having read the information package of that institution, prepares a study plan in consultation with the relevant coordinator at the home institution for the duration of the stay at the partner institution. He or she fills in an application form (student application form) which, in addition to the applicant's personal data, includes information on the number of credits he or she plans to obtain at the host university. He/she attaches to the form an agreed learning agreement with the coordinator and a description of the course of study to date in the form of a list of credits. The learning agreement is signed by the student and the coordinators representing both universities. Signing the document is a prerequisite for the recognition of the period of study undertaken at the host university. Copies of the agreement shall be given to each party. Any change to the study plan during the period of stay at the host university shall require the consent of all parties concerned expressed by an appropriate provision in the learning agreement confirmed by the signature of each party.
Transfer of credits obtained at the partner university is based on the transcript of credits. It includes all the subjects completed by the student, the number of credits allocated to each subject and the grades awarded according to the grading scale used at the host university and the scale in the ECTS system. A copy of the transcript of credits, certified by signature, shall be given to each party. On the basis of the transcript of credits, the home university decides on the credit for the period of study.
Financial support for those undertaking ECTS studies at universities abroad is offered by scholarship programmes available under SOCRATES/ERASMUS and other scholarship programmes.
