ECTS credits
ECTS credits
ECTS credits are the numerical value allocated to each subject, corresponding to the workloadthat a student must complete in order to obtain credit for a subject. The number of credits a student achieves after passing a given subject describes the relative workload required to complete the subject in relation to the total workloadrequired to complete a full academic year of study in the programme.
The ECTS credits allocated to each subject leading to credit reflect the relative student load associated with participation in the various forms of learning activities related to the subject. These include group activities: lectures, practical classes, conversation classes, seminars, fieldwork, etc., as well as individual work and examinations and other forms of assessment. ECTS credits are also allocated to internships and elective subjects which form an integral part of the curriculum, provided that they end with a grade.
In the ECTS system, the amount of work required to complete an entire academic year corresponds to 60 credits, and there are usually 30 creditsper semester. The number of credits allocated to each subject is decided by the institution participating in the ECTS system.
