Antivirus software update

Following an analysis of the appropriate security of the JKU Computer Network resources, including the use of anti-virus software by network users at the University, we would like to inform you that the anti-virus software installed on all computers at Jan Kochanowski University must comply with ICT security requirements.

This indicates the need to adapt the software version to the latest one available at JKU and to follow the recommendations of the Data Protection Officer and the ICT security specialist at the University.

Those who do not have updated software, including anti-virus software, on employee computers should contact the IT specialists in their organisational units for information on how to carry out the update.

IT staff who administers the distribution of anti-virus software to individual departments and units should, in each reported case, deploy a new version of anti-virus software according to the procedure established in the IT Security Department (now the IT Centre).

Antivirus software on employee computers should be at least version 6.3 Eset Endpoint Antivirus or Security. I would like to remind you that the Antivirus System Administrator at JKU has communicated to the organisational units about the absolute necessity to update the version of the antivirus system, together with the list of computers requiring such an update.

Computers with antivirus versions ESET 5 and 4 will have their internet access blocked at the University as of 15 March 2019.
