Project University open to the needs of people with disabilities,
co-financed with funds from the European Social Fund as part of the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development 2014-2020, Priority Axis III Higher education for the economy and development, Measure 3.5 Comprehensive university programmes pursuant to the contract no. POWR.03.05.00-00-A023/19 concluded with the National Centre for Research and Development.

Project implementation period: from 01.02.2020 to 31.12.2023.

Project objective

Elimination of the obstacles in access to higher education at Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce through the development and implementation of organisational changes and raising the awareness and competence of JKU staff in the field of disability
for the period 01.02.2020 to 31.12.2023.

The following tasks will be carried out within the project:

• expansion of the offer of the Support Centre for People with Disabilities,
• removal of architectural barriers,
• supporting technologies - modernisation of IT systems, launch of an e-services platform
• development and implementation of accessibility procedures,
• education support,
• training for university staff.

Target group

Support under the project is aimed at:

1. University

2. University staff, i.e., teaching, administrative and management staff,

3. Students with disabilities

The project will result in:

• optimisation the structure and scope of the tasks of the Support Centre for Persons
  with Disabilities through the intensification of the activities of the laboratory for the adaptation of teaching materials, the provision of consultations by educational counsellors in the People with Disabilities Section, extension of the offer of the Crisis Intervention Centre
  with the psychological support offering,
• elimination of the architectural barriers at the Support Centre for Persons
  with Disabilities through the modernisation and adaptation of premises to meet the needs of people with disabilities,
• removal of the architectural barriers in the University's spaces by creating door signs with Braille text and a QR code,
• launching a platform providing e-services supporting learning processes
  and facilitating access for people with disabilities,
• modernisation of the content management system (webujk CMS),
• development and implementation of the procedures to ensure architectural and digital
  accessibility,
• raising awareness and competence of JKU staff in the area of disabilities
