Previous workshops
In autumn 2005 a few people from the Institute of Physics of the Świętokrzyska Academy (now Jan Kochanowski University) in Kielce gathered to discuss fluctuations in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The discussion was arranged in the framework of a little workshop which appeared surprisingly successful. We have then decided to organize regular meetings, as in Poland there is a strong community of experimentalists and theorists interested and working on relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Moreover, we have also realized that we know each other mostly from abroad where we meet hastily at various conferences and that the collaboration between Polish centers is rather rudimentary. Polish Workshops on Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions have the goal to change it. We have decided to meet at least once a year, focusing every workshop on a well defined subject of heavy-ion physics.
In April 2006 our colleagues from the Warsaw University of Technology organized the 2-nd Polish Workshop on Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions devoted to femtoscopy, and in October 2006 the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the University of Wrocław hosted the 3-rd workshop on Statistical Models in Strong Interactions. In Wrocław we switched to English to embrace our friends who do not yet speak Polish. In Kraków we met for the fourth time at the workshop entitled Heavy-Ion Collisions in the LHC Era. The workshop program extended to two days. We discussed the forthcoming projects of relativistic heavy-ion physics and we paid tribute to Professor Wiesław Czyż on the occasion of his 80th birthday. We also celebrated 30 years of the Wounded Nucleon Model. The fourth workshop established the formula of further meetings. Their main subjects, organizers, places and dates are listed below.
